Our Impact

The Soul of Philanthropy Cleveland® (TSOPCLE) team was thrilled to meet Morelle McCane, a 29 year old female boxer from Cleveland’s Glenville community who was headed to the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. She had qualified for the Olympics in late 2023, something that not many do that far ahead of the Olympic games. When TSOPCLE heard that she had a ‘Go Fund Me’ page to help raise money for her family to accompany her to Paris, they immediately stepped in to galvanize the community and lead an effort to raise enough money to cover the full costs of airfare, lodging and meals for her family. Additionally, both Intel (a lead sponsor of the Summer Olympics) and Benesch Law stepped in as CBEHF’s partners to host a fundraising reception for Morelle, attended by many civic and corporate leaders.
TSOPCLE was proud to amplify this young woman throughout the city. Her likeness was visible around Playhouse Square; she was interviewed by Russ Mitchell at the City Club of Cleveland; a community farewell gathering was held at the Glenville Recreation Center, along with quite a few print, radio and sports media interviews.
